At Beatrice Community Hospital (BCH) and Beatrice Fire & Rescue (BFR), we are committed to the safety and well-being of our community. In 2024, during the Big Give Gage event, we launched a project focused on advancing our cardiac care capabilities through the latest EKG technology.
Thanks to your incredible support, this initiative is already making a profound difference in the lives of those who need it most. The success of this project goes beyond technology and equipment - it's about real people and real lives. Here's a powerful example:
In May 2024, a retiree in his mid-60s was working in his garden when he suddenly began experiencing severe sweating, chest pain, and drooping lips. Recognizing the danger, his wife rushed him to the BCH Emergency Department, where an EKG confirmed that he was suffering from a massive heart attack.
Thanks to the quick response of BFR, he was immediately transferred to a hospital in Lincoln for urgent surgery. With the support of BCH's cardiac rehab team, he received outstanding care throughout his recovery. Today, he is living a healthier life, with recent tests showing significant improvement.
