GivingTuesday is a global movement that unleashes the power of generosity around the world. It was created in 2012 with the simple goal of encouraging people to do good one day each year. The idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

Generosity gives everyone the power to make a positive change in the lives of others and is a fundamental human value anyone can act on.

This past #GivingTuesday, November 28th, we spotlighted the Rehabilitation Department within the Beatrice Community Hospital. This Department provides cardiac, occupational, physical, and speech therapy services to patients of the Beatrice Community Hospital. From October 1, 2022 until September 30, 2023, this department had over 21,000 visits or encounters with both inpatient and outpatients! They provide essential services to the patients of BCH and the community at large because of the direct connection to primary care providers and the depth of services they can provide. 

Thanks to a referral from a friend, Shannon Petersen is able to get back on the mountain after utilizing the physical therapy services provided at BCH. She seeks great adventures up mountain tops, but got injured while trekking down Longs Peak in Colorado. The Rehab team has been able to get Shannon back to normalcy after just a few weeks. Shannon said, “I’m just so blown away by the professionalism, the friendliness, the teaching, and the patience. I almost don’t want my session to end. They are just really, really great.”

Thank you to those who helped us enhance the services provided the Rehab Department at BCH on Giving Tuesday! As Shannon shared, "The personal attention when you are there for your appointment, its about you... You feel like you're the only person at the time." We are so thankful to be able to give others like Shannon an opportunity to get back on the mountain!
